About ETF

The Emergent Technologies Foundation (ETF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to streamlining and simplifying the formation and management of collaborative entities. We reduce the barriers to entry for individuals and organizations seeking to work together on technical standards, open-source software, and other projects that benefit the public interest.

Our innovative structure utilizes single-member LLCs underneath a parent non-profit, providing numerous benefits:

  • Cost-Effective: Reduced formation expenses and immediate tax-exempt status.

  • Flexible: Adaptable to various project needs and goals.

  • Fast: Enables rapid project launch and operation.

  • Liability Protection: Isolates project liabilities within individual LLCs.

  • Asset Protection: Allows independent ownership and management of project assets.

  • Operational Flexibility: Facilitates autonomous project operation and financial management.

By simplifying collaboration, ETF fosters innovation and cooperation, leading to advancements in technology and the creation of solutions that address shared challenges for the public good.

As of Fall 2024, ETF is ramping up in ‘private beta’ stage. During this stage ETF is being led by Ana LaDou and by ETF legal counsel Brad Biddle and John Weathers of Biddle Law PC, with support from a broad array of industry advisors.
